FarmaMondo has reached the landmark of its 100th anniversary. The company was founded in the distant past as a local Swiss community pharmacy in the center of Chiasso in Switzerland in 1915: the first step towards the future.
FarmaMondo’s history is 100% Swiss and characterized by rigorous focus on operational excellence and uncompromising quality. Celebrating 100 years is an important landmark and at the same token it represents another starting point.
FarmaMondo was one of the most important companies to specialise in supplying pharmaceuticals to the world. Over the years there have been important investments to create a structure that can manage complex logistical processes while constantly improving staff skills and, in particular, maintaining the company’s position as a leader in the sector.
FarmaMondo operates at a global scale to distribute pharmaceuticals that are not immediately available in local markets due, for example, to missing permissions and authorisations or because the area is difficult to reach, and helps pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies provide unavailable therapies to patients wherever they live.
In many countries in the world many people suffer from diseases that are rare or difficult to cure and which do not have an authorized treatment; FarmaMondo’s business model enables the company to operate within these destination markets and facilitate the service and distribution of the pharmaceuticals in one of the best lead time in our industry.
FarmaMondo has extensive and in-depth knowledge of regulations regarding the different access programmes in all markets. The company’s primary mission is to be able to provide the highest quality, most suitable product to the best local operators in the shortest time possible.
The business covers four continents with the recent conclusion of our expansion into central and Latin American markets. Hopefully, during next years FarmaMondo will further expand its business to the African continent, which is crying out for medicine.
Today the FarmaMondo network comprises of nearly 200 partner manufacturers and suppliers, dispatching thousands of pharmaceutical products every day to over 60 countries across the world.
FarmaMondo’s additional strength is its product delivery. Logistics is extremely important in this sector, particularly as over 40% of the products we dispatch across the world every year are requiring a controlled thermal solution during transport.
One of the biggest challenges is monitoring the dispatch of pharmaceuticals with storage conditions between 2° C and 8° C. In addition, new GDP guidelines impose temperature controls for the transport and storage of products needing to be kept at room temperature (between + 15° and + 25° C). FarmaMondo offers validated solutions for such thermal conditions for storage and transport.
